Introduction

The Executive Diploma Programme which is offered by UTM Razak School of Engineering and Advanced Technology in collaboration with ECEL Human Capital Sdn. Bhd. is an alternative education for industrial workers who do not have the opportunity to further their education in mainstream programmes. It aims to address directly the industry-specific issues and fulfil the needs of the workforce. This program is the first executive diploma programs in Malaysian Higher Education system approved by the MQA. This programme commenced in 2005 and it has produced more than 3,000 graduates.

2. Admission Requirement
    • i. University General Requirements
    • Passed Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with three (3) credits
    • OR

    • ii. University General Requirements for Certificate Holders
    • Obtained a certificate from Polytechnic or equivalent in a field relevant to the course
    • applied with a minimum of CGPA 2.00
    • OR

    • iii. University General Requirements for Other Qualifications
    • Holds other qualifications that are deemed equivalent to SPM levels approved by the Government of Malaysia and by the UTM Senate with three (3) credits
    • AND

  • iv. Programme Specific Requirements
  • a. Candidates must provide evidence endorsed by the present employer showing at least three (3) years working experience in related field
  • b. At least 21 years of age
  • c. Pass the interview / test to certify experience, if required by UTM
  • d. Candidates are required to submit a detailed transcript of SPM / Certificates result (from the first semester to the final semester) / Course Attendance, endorsed by employer

 

3. Mechanisms for Learning

An integrated learning approach and assessment methods are applied for the executive diploma programme. Learning activities and case studies discussion are facilitated by lecturers during face to face meetings. Quiz, test, presentation and post module assessment (PMA) methods were stated in the module outlines. PMA assignment were conducted through discussions via internets, self and independent studies. Preparation and analyses of PMA were conducted individually by taking into account student’s prior experiential learning (PEL).


 

4. Medium of Instruction

Lecturers and sessions are conducted in Malay or in English; depending on the needs of learners.


 

5. Certificate Issuing Body

The Executive Diploma is awarded by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia to graduate, students should:

  • a. Complete a total of 60 credit hours with minimum CGPA of 2.00
  • b. Complete and pass the Diploma Project I (Proposal) and Diploma Project II (Report)

7. Academic Path

Graduates of this programme can continue to the Executive Master programme without having to enrol in a degree programme. However, in order for them to be eligible for this, they have to have the stipulated number of working years. After completing the master programme, they can further enrol into the Doctorate programme offered at UTM Razak School.
